Indonesia, Luxembourg Ink Air Transportation Cooperation

26 May 2023 11:59 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia, represented by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn on Thursday, May 25, inked an air service agreement (ASA) at the Indonesian Transportation Ministry office in Central Jakarta.

The bilateral partnership is one of the many agendas of the foreign minister to Indonesia on May 23-26. His visit also marked the 50th commemoration of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.

“The deal has finally been signed which comes in conjunction with the 50th diplomatic anniversary of the two countries. This will be the basis for developing the connectivity of air transport between the two nations,” said Budi Karya on May 26, who also said the deal was postponed since 2014.

This agreement opens opportunities for the airlines of the two countries to expand air transport service routes, one of which is by setting up code sharing between airlines, establishing an airline alliance, etc.

Minister Budi hopes to further strengthen the positive relations and cooperation between the two countries. This partnership is also hoped to have a significant impact on the economic growth, trade, and tourism of the two countries.
