Victims of Coldplay Ticket Scam Increase to 60; Losses Hit Rp183mn

23 May 2023 16:33 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaVictims of alleged Coldplay ticket sales fraud through buying services (jasa titip/ jastip) who file a report to the National Police’s Crime Directorate Unit increased from 14 to 60 as of Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The total loss has also swelled to Rp183 million.

The victim's attorney, Muhamad Zainul Arifin, said that he receives many requests for advocacy since they first made a report to the police on May 19.

“Initially, there are only 14 people, then it increases to 60 people with an initial loss of Rp32 million, now it has reached Rp183 million,” Zainul said when met at the National Police HQ to fulfill summons to examine the victim, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

The number of victims is subject to increase

Zainul said the current number of victims is likely to increase because several victims have not submitted their data. Investigators are also still gathering material to complete the case file.

“Because we have made reports to several regional police and sectoral police, all of this will surely be accommodated by the National Police and later will be transferred to the prosecutor and so on,” he explained.

Police are urged to examine the promoters

Meanwhile, Zainul said the victims are scammed into buying the concert ticket through social media Twitter and Instagram, and even Telegram. He hoped that the National Police’s Cybercrime Directorate could investigate the case thoroughly and summon the official promoter, PK Entertainment and Third Eye Management, for clarification regarding this matter.

“And what’s most important is that the victims want their money back and hope that the promoter has a sense of empathy, is responsible, and at least can give free tickets to the victims,” Zainul said.

Jakarta Metro Police have arrested two suspected perpetrators of the concert ticket scam of Coldplay who will perform at Jakarta Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK), on 15 November 2023.
