TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President of the Labor Party Said Iqbal, explained that the party rejected the Omnibus Law and will not engage in coalition with political party that supports the problematic law.
"The Labor Party only coalesce with the presidential candidate. Personal, the Labor Party does not adhere to political parties supporting the Omnibus Law," Said Iqbal said on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Said asserted that the Labor Party exists to fight against the ongoing condition, which favors businesses and harm laborers.
"We never coalesce with any political party in the parliament, who passed the Work Creation Law," Iqbal said.
Iqbal claimed that for the commemoration of May Day today, more than 50,000 laborers are present around the State Palace.
The laborers in general made six demands, the first is to repeal the Omnibus Law, and Law No. 6 of 2023 concerning Work Creation.
The second is to revoke the Parliamentary Threshold of four percent out of the nationally valid votes, and to repeal the 20 percent Presidential Threshold.
The third demand is to enact the Draft Bill of Protection for Household Workers, and to Eliminate Outsourcing, and Refuse Cheap Wages.
The fourth demand is to conduct agrarian reform and anti-import food sustainability. Fifth, reject the draft bill on Health Law
"And sixth, choose a pro-labor 2024 presidential candidate, who refused Omnibus Law, Law on Work Creation and who cares about laborer's trouble," Iqbal said.
