Minister Lauds PT KAI's Services for Women, Children during Eid Homecoming

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati lauded the efforts of PT KAI (a state-owned railway company) to provide services and facilities for women and children during the Eid homecoming.
"We lauded the efforts of PT KAI during this Eid homecoming for women and children. We hope the homecoming season can be safe, comfortable, and friendly for women and children. In general, it has been fulfilled by PT KAI," she noted during her visit to Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta on Sunday.
On her visit, the minister conducted a review of a number of facilities available at the station, starting with the children's playroom located near the departure entrance, lactation rooms, health posts, and a special waiting area for passengers with disabilities.
Darmawati also reviewed the condition of women and children passengers on the Jayabaya train bound for Malang just before the train left.
"Pasar Senen Station already has a lactation room and conducts a health check," she stated.
The minister also appreciated the facilities provided to passengers with disabilities and children.
Then, related to disability, extraordinary steps have been taken by PT KAI. They also provided a comfortable atmosphere for the children with a playroom," she continued.
She then lauded PT KAI's commitment to preventing violence against women and children in all available train cars. This is realized by issuing a blacklist of perpetrators of sexual violence against women and children.
"The perpetrator has been blacklisted, and they cannot get on the train anymore. This is proof of our commitment to providing a safe space for women and children," she said.
Darmawati also reminds PT KAI to report cases of violence against women and children that occur in the station area or on train cars.
"We hope they can report it because we have a service called Friends of Women and Children via hotline 129 or via WhatsApp at 08111-129-129," she said.
