PT KAI: Jakarta Sees Arrival of 417,000 Passengers During Nataru Holidays

9 January 2023 13:07 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia or PT KAI reported that the arrival of the Long Distance Train (KAJJ) passengers who disembark at several stations in the Jakarta area had reached 417,500 passengers during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays period.

"Based on the monitoring result on Sunday, January 8, the number of passengers disembarking is still higher than passengers boarding in the area of Jakarta," said the head of Public Relations of PT KAI Jakarta, Eva Chairunisa, on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

Eva stated that the number was estimated from the Nataru holidays on December 26, 2022, until Sunday, January 8, 2023.

As a result of the number, around 147,200 passengers disembark at Gambir Station, 158,500 at Pasar Senen Station and the rest at several other stations that serve as drop off to long-distance passengers in the Greater Jakarta areas such as Jakarta Kota, Bekasi, Jatinegara, Cikarang, Karawang and Cikampek.

Previously on Sunday, in total, there were 18,360 passengers departing and 28,960 passengers arriving/dropping off in the Jakarta area.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers departing from December 22, 2022, to January 8, 2023, during those 18 days in total, there were 512,100 passengers departing from the area of Jakarta.

This number has almost tripled when compared to the total number of passengers departing during the 2021/2022 Nataru holidays period, which is around 196,500 passengers.

Eva expressed that KAI has appealed to the public to plan their trips well and order tickets in advance before departing as train tickets can be ordered 45 days before the scheduled departure that has been selected.

Customers who attended to travel using KAI services are also advised to arrive early at the station for departure at least 1 hour before the train starts to leave.

People who like to know about ticket availability can receive the information online through the KAI access application, which can be downloaded for free on Android and iOS devices.

Apart from checking ticket availability, the KAI Access application can also be used to order tickets, change schedules and cancel tickets.

"Apart from ordering tickets through the application, it can also be done through our official agents on online and retail sales who have collaborated with PT KAI," she said.
