F1 PowerBoat Championships in Lake Toba; 180 Delegates Arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - At least 180 delegates of F1 PowerBoat Championships from various countries started arriving at Soekarno-Hatta Airport a week before the world powerboat racing which is slated to be held in Lake Toba, North Sumatra, on February 25-26, 2023.
“The number of delegates arriving at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was around 180 including the racers of 10 teams," said state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II or AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin in a written statement, Monday, February 20, 2023.
The first delegation arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on February 16, 2023, then the next group would arrive on February 18-24, 2023. “The delegates who arrived on February 16 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport landed at Sisingamangaraja XII Airport on February 17,” said Awaluddin.
“Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the main entry point for the delegates to then continue their journey to Sisingamangaraja XII Airport in Siborongborong, North Tapanuli (North Sumatra) which is about 30 minutes from the venue,” he explained.
From Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the delegates continued their journey with three choices of airlines that fly directly to Sisingamangaraja Airport, namely Batik Air, Citilink, and AirAsia Indonesia. Citilink also operates the Jakarta - Siborongborong route from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.
“We always monitor air traffic trends every day and coordinate with airlines so that if there is an increase in demand, we can anticipate it,” Awaluddin added.
Meanwhile, Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Dwi Ananda Wicaksana estimated that the passengers' movement on the Jakarta - Siborongborong flight route will increase starting today, February 20, 2023.
“The increase in passengers is expected to start on February 20, ahead of the KOPIKO F1 PowerBoat Championships on February 25-26, 2023. All stakeholders at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are trying to provide the best service to domestic and foreign tourists willing to attend this global event,” said Dwi.
