TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta district court on Monday is set to announce the verdict that court judges have reached for the trial of former Police Internal Affairs (Propam) chief Ferdy Sambo and his wife Putri Candrawathi. Both are charged with the premeditated murder of Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, who was Sambo’s personal police aide.
The South Jakarta district court, along with South Jakarta police personnel have sterilized the location since Sunday evening, February 12.
According to a district court spokesperson, Djuyamto said security measures have been increased along with a restricted number of visitors. The main courtroom initially could only accommodate 50 visitors.
“This is just a restriction, not a ban, let me say it again, we are restricting [the number of people] not banning [for the sake of the court trial],” said Djuyamto to journalists.
A member of Ferdy Sambo's legal team, Rasamala Aritonang, said that his client was willing to accept whatever verdict that would be handed down by the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court in today's verdict hearing.
Ferdy Sambo and his wife, Putri Candrawathi, will be sentenced today on 13 February by a panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court chaired by Judge Wahyu Iman Santoso. So far, Ferdy Sambo has been charged by prosecutors with life imprisonment as he acted out as the mastermind behind the ruthless murder.
Both of them will be joined by three other defendants for being involved in the premeditated murder of Yosua, Ferdy Sambo's adjutant which comprises Richard Eliezer, Ricky Rizal, and Kuat Ma'ruf.
