KPAI Commissioner Retno Listyarti criticized the act of violence that the parent allegedly committed against his child. She also appealed to the public not to spread the video.
"Stop on you or us. Because if other children see the violent video, it has the potential to have a psychological impact on them," said Retno in a written statement, Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
The domestic violence case was reported by the victim's mother with the initials KEY to the South Jakarta Metro Police on September 23, 2022. The reported suspect was allegedly a head of the OVO company with the initials RIS.
South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Commissioner, Ade Ary Syam Indradi, revealed that RIS is the suspected figure of violence against victims from 2021 until 2022 at the Signature Park Apartment on Jalan Letjen MT Haryono Kav. 22-23 Tebet, South Jakarta.
OVO ensures the perpetrator is no longer working in the company
In response to this case, OVO's management clarified the allegations on one of their officials were involved in the domestic violence case. The case involved RIS, someone who was said to have worked at OVO.
Through the official social media account, the application management for this payment system service ensured that RIS was no longer working at OVO.
"We hereby emphasize that the concerned suspect has not worked at OVO since 2019," said OVO management in a written statement, Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

KPAI to monitor cases of domestic violence against children
The KPAI will oversee the case by supervising each case process until it is later brought to the court.
KPAI also reminded the police to use Child Protection laws in the Criminal Code concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (KDRT).
"Within the Child Protection laws, the Criminal Code is added by one-third in the provisions of the Law if the perpetrators of violence against the victims are people closest to the victim, such as parents, teachers, etc," she explained.
The addition of the severe decree can prevent parents from committing violence against children under the pretext of educating or disciplining children.
According to the KPAI chief, many ways can be done in educating children without involving violence, as acts of violence can hurt children physically and psychologically.
"To parents who commit violence against their children, be prepared to deal with law enforcement and face multiple articles in the Domestic Violence and Child Protection Laws," said Retno.
