TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of aftershocks in Cianjur following the devastating 5.6 magnitude earthquake on Nov. 21, was 378 as of Saturday morning at 7 a.m., from previously 367 aftershocks on Friday.

The aftershocks grew weaker and rarer after almost two weeks, which is similar to what had been stated by the meteorology, climatology, and geophysics agency (BMKG) head of the earthquake and tsunami center, Daryono.

On his Twitter account, Daryono also noted that the Cianjur earthquake showed that there are a lot of active fault earthquake sources in Indonesia that could trigger strong and damaging earthquakes and the source has not been mapped.

“Activities to identify the source of active fault earthquakes and the mapping must continue to be encouraged," said Daryono.

Until Saturday morning, there had been no record of another aftershock in Cianjur, as stated by BMKG. But the meteorology agency recorded a quake sourced from the sea, 78 kilometers southwest of Pangandaran, West Java, at 03:37 local time. The magnitude was recorded at 4.5 and the strongest shaking was felt in Pangandaran at level III of the MMI scale, and in Garut and Tasikmalaya.

BMKG ensured that the quake sourced at the southern sea at the dept of 26 kilometers would not trigger a tsunami.
