TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry’s director general of oil and gas, Tutuka Ariadji, clarified issues that Pertalite fuel easily evaporates and runs out after the price increase.
He said the government had ordered the Research and Development Center of Oil and Gas Technology (PPPTMGB) or Lemigas to conduct a test regarding the standards and quality of the subsidized fuel.
The team took the fuel samples from several gas stations in Jakarta. “The testing is then carried out to obtain quality assurance,” he said in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
For the initial stage, the ESDM Ministry took samples from six gas stations in Lenteng Agung, Taman Mini, Abdul Muis, Sunter, and S. Parman. “The fuel sample is tested under standard testing procedures for 19 test parameters,” said Tutuka.
Tutuka revealed that the results met the standards and quality of RON 90 gasoline which is marketed domestically. The standard refers to the Decree of the Director General of Oil and Gas No. 0486.K/10/DJM.S/2017.
“There is no indication of any quality limitation. Everything is on spec,” he emphasized.
He also said the government would conduct more intensive monitoring of the standard and quality of fuel in the country. “By paying attention to technological developments, producer capabilities, consumer capabilities and needs, occupational safety and health, as well as environmental management,” Tutuka concluded.
