TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-run developer PT Jakarta Propertindo or Jakpro stated that the city’s first incinerator project dubbed Intermediate Treatment Facility or ITF in Sunter, North Jakarta, could generate 35 megawatts (MW) of electricity per hour. This facility could be a new source of environmentally friendly energy as well as a solution for the city’s waste.
“ITF Sunter is a solution for Jakarta to solve the waste problem,” said Jakpro Corporate Secretary Syachrial Syarif in Jakarta, Monday, September 19, 2022, as quoted from Antara.
Capable of processing 2,200 tons of waste per day, the waste-based power plant is projected to reduce 30 percent of the city’s waste that must be disposed of at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST). Per day, the city produced around 7,800 tons of waste
The facility, which is managed by Jakpro’s subsidiary PT Jakarta Solusi Lestari, will adopt modern technology that is also used by developed countries. This waste management technology is designed to be able to destroy and reduce the volume of waste by 80-90 percent with Euro 5 emission standards.
This waste-to-energy facility project construction is still in the tender stage and was targeted to start in the fourth quarter of 2022. Syachrial said that the announcement of the tender winner will be made in November 2022.
At a working meeting with Jakarta Legislative Council Commission B on September 14, Jakpro asked for Regional Capital Participation (PMD) in the 2022 Revised Regional Budget of Rp517 billion for planning supervision and assurance of the ITF Sunter. Meanwhile, in 2023, Jakpro proposed a PMD of Rp239 billion for land leases and operational costs.
