TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deposited Rp245 million into the state treasury. The money was the proceeds from the auction of 200 grams of gold belonging to former Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Budi Budiman.
"KPK executive prosecutor Andry Prihandono deposited the money into the state treasury," KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said on Tuesday, August 30.
Ali said that the 200 grams of gold that belonged to Budi Budiman was produced by PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. KPK confiscated the gold from Budi, who was convicted of bribing two employees of the Ministry of Finance with Rp700 million.
"The KPK auctions confiscated evidence to optimize asset recovery from corruption cases," Ali said.
Budi was convicted guilty of bribing two Finance Ministry employees, Rifa Surya and Yaya Purnomo, in return for his city to receive the Regional Incentive Fund and the Special Allocation Fund for 2018.
Budi Budiman was sent to the Sukamiskin Prison in Bandung on June 11, 2021. He was released on November the same year.
