2022 Esports President's Cup Begins Soon; Prize Money up to Rp1.8bn

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe 2022 Esports President's Cup will be held starting on August 10, 2022. This year’s event will be the fourth game after it was launched in 2019.

Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko stated that the government’s consistency in organizing the event proved that Indonesia has great potential in this kind of sport. He also hoped that Indonesia could dominate eSports in the world.

“Indonesia's potential, from the ecosystem, industry, and players, has been noticed by many esports enthusiasts in the regional and international regions. The government fully supports the 2022 Esports President's Cup which will soon be rolling, as a place to find, hone, and encourage local talents to compete on the world stage,” said Moeldoko at an online press conference on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

The Executive Committee Head for the Esports President's Cup, Rangga Danu Prasetyo, explained that the opening of this year’s event themed the 'Beyonderfull' will be held on August 10, 2022. He targeted that more than 150,000 athletes join the championship.

There will be six esports games in the Esports President's Cup, namely Lokapala, Battle of Satria Dewa, Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and one local game from the submission system. The total prize money amounts to Rp1.8 billion.
