Indonesia's BRIN Aiming to Develop Nuclear Technology with France

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Laksana Tri Handoko on Wednesday last week (June 29) met with France’s nuclear organization higherups in an attempt to explore possibilities to establish a bilateral partnership in nuclear development in Indonesia.
In the meeting, Handoko elaborated the two crucial plans regarding the development of nuclear in Indonesia which includes fixing its infrastructure and increasing building capacity.
“Firstly, we plan on fixing Indonesia’s nuclear infrastructure with one of it being the nuclear reactor. The second aspect is that we need human resources in the field,” said Handoko, BRIN website reported.
Handoko hopes that through this meeting Indonesia can establish cooperation with France as one of the developed countries in the field of nuclear technology.
The meeting saw a number of French nuclear leaders such as the Director of the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN), Karen Daifuku, Deputy Director of International Relations of CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission), Pascal Chaix, New Nuclear Project Development of EDF (Électricité de France), Laurent Fabre, Nuclear Division of Bureau Veritas, and Boulesteix Frederique of IRSN (Institute De Radioactive et De Sorte Nuclear), Erik Dagorn.
