TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Najmi Mumtaza Rabbany, regional secretary of the Jakarta branch of the United Development Party (PPP), appreciated Jakarta Provincial Government's decision to revoke Holywings' business license and shut down all of its outlets in the capital. He called the decision a reflection of a government that obeys the law.
Twelve Holywings bars and restaurants in Jakarta were sealed off after the franchise lost its business license.
"Closing Holywings is a form of government and leadership that obeys the law, prioritizing integrity over profit," Najmi said in a text message, Wednesday, June 29.
Mentioning the viral issue of Holywings' alcoholic beverages promotion, Najmi said that law enforcement and firm actions taken against Holywings—under the direction of Anies Baswedan—shows that the Jakarta governor is sensitive to and sided with public unrest.
"The decisive steps taken by Mr. Anies illustrate how he can accommodate people's demand," he said.
Najmi appealed to entrepreneurs, especially young people and business actors, to comply with regulations and avoid provocative business promotions with polarizing narratives.
"As entrepreneurs, especially young people, we must not only aim to become viral, but also to be considerate and sensitive to people's lives," he said.
