Jokowi, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier Discuss Economic Cooperation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo talked about his meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Bogor Palace in West Java, in which the President discussed various issues, including bilateral economic cooperation between Indonesia and Germany.
"The meeting went very friendly and productive and in terms of bilateral issues we focused on talking about economic partnership," said Jokowi at the Bogor Palace on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Moreover, the President said that the Indonesian Ministry of Industry has cooperated with the German government in accelerating the development of human resources in the fourth industrial revolution.
During the meeting, Steinmeier and Jokowi also talked about investing in electric vehicles from the upstream to the downstream levels where the Indonesian President also invited Germany to develop a semiconductor factory in Indonesia and make the industry part of the global chip supply chain.
"I reiterate Indonesia's offer to Germany to build a German Industrial Quarter in an industrial area in Indonesia," said Jokowi.
Talks about strengthening ties in climate change were also discussed, “I also urged for the strengthening of our partnership in overcoming the effects of the Ukraine war, especially in terms of food supply, energy, and Indo-Pacific regional partnership,” Jokowi added.
