Committee Scraps Convoy Plan of Formula E Racers

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Formula E Jakarta organizing committee canceled the convoy of electric car racers that was planned to be held at the National Monument or Monas area on June 2, 2022.
The planned convoy was removed from the pre-event agenda of the international electric car racing due to technical rules set by the organizing committee Formula E Operations (FEO).
“Because it is related technically to the vehicle,” said Chairman of the Formula E Jakarta Organizing Committee Ahmad Sahroni in Jakarta today, May 25, 2022.
Ahmad, however, stopped short of detailing the technical rules, confirming that the pre-event will still be held at Monas which is only for photo sessions with racers without their cars.
Initially, the committee planned to hold a photo session with racers and convoy around the Monas area on Thursday, June 2, 2022. The racers will reportedly arrive in the capital on May 28-29 2022.
The Jakarta Formula E is slated to be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Ancol, North Jakarta. At present, the construction of the 2.4-kilometer circuit has been 100 percent complete. The construction of the circuit’s supporting facilities, such as the audience stage, racer's garage, and other facilities was targeted to be finished by the end of May 2022.
