TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta will be temporarily off-limits for tourism activity starting May 17, 2022. The decision was taken on considerations of the ongoing revitalization of the cultural park.
The temporary closure was announced by the park management via its official Instagram account @tmiiofficial on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Since last January, the government has started the face-lift project. However, the park still welcomed tourists in a limited number. One of the project goals was to welcome international events including the G20 Summit in October.
The renovation project of Taman Mini include a number of rides and facilities, starting from the access road, main gate area, a number of joglo (Sasono Utomo, Sasono Langen Budoyo, Sasono Adiguno), museums, landscape arrangement of islands in Lake Archipelago, Garuda Theater Museum, Telkom Museum, and Keong Mas, elevated parking area, as well as revitalization of Lake Archipelago.
PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia or InJourney as the holding company for state-owned tourism-related enterprises targeted that the revitalization of TMII will be completed in October this year.
