TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina officially barred consumers from buying the RON 90 gasoline or Pertalite with jerry cans after it is categorized as the special assignment fuel (JBKP) as a substitute for the RON 88 gasoline or Premium.
“The regulation that prohibits [gas stations] from serving the purchase of Pertalite with jerry cans is also in accordance with the Circular of the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Number 13 of 2017 on the distribution of fuel through distributors,” said Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga Irto Ginting in a written statement, Friday, April 8.
Irto said the circular referred to the Decree of the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister (ESDM) No. 37 of 2022 concerning the special assignment fuel.
“Pertamina through its sub-holding commercial and trading, Pertamina Patra Niaga, continues to be committed to ensuring the distribution of Pertalite that is right on target based on applicable allocations and regulations,” Irto added.
As the status change of Pertalite from general fuel (JBU) to JBKP, in which there are subsidies or price compensation and quota allocation, Pertamina prohibited gas stations from serving the purchase of Pertalite using jerry cans or drums that are sold at the retail level.
