TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of state-owned gas and oil giant Pertamina, ensured the current stock of its RON 90 type or Pertalite gasoline is sufficient and confirmed it would be distributed based on needs.
“We will distribute Pertalite as needed, including ahead of Eid homecoming for Lebaran later,” said Pertamina Patra Niaga's acting secretary Irto Ginting when contacted in Jakarta, Monday, April 4.
On April 1, Pertamina announced a price hike of its RON 92 type or Pertamax gasoline from Rp9,000 to Rp9,400 per liter to Rp12,500-13,000 per liter following the high price of global crude oil.
The decision to increase the price of Pertamax by 28 percent boosted the demand for Pertalite which is priced at Rp7,650 per liter and triggered stock shortages in a number of regions.
Irto said his side would coordinate an additional quota of Pertalite to the government through the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) to ensure the availability of the subsidized fuel at gas stations and meet the needs of the community.
Meanwhile, for restrictions on purchases, Pertamina claimed it will coordinate with BPH Migas considering the current status of Pertalite which is a special type of fuel assigned by the government.
