Ramadan Begins Sunday, Says Govt

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Religious Affairs Ministry announced that Ramadan 1, 1443 Hijriyah or this year’s fasting month falls on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said the decision was taken in an isbat (confirmation) meeting involving the House’s Commission VIII, Muslim mass organizations, and representatives of neighboring countries.
“The height of hilal (crescent moon) across Indonesia is at the position of one to two degrees, two minutes,” Yaqut said on Friday, April 1, 2022.
He explained the result was that hilal was invisible viewed from 101 observation points, meaning that Ramadan 1, 1443 Hijriyah falls on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
