TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police is set to hand out speeding tickets starting on April 1, 2022, against drivers who exceeded the speed limit across toll roads in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi.
Metro Jaya Police Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, said that the speeding tickets will be handed to violators electronically by utilizing the ETLE (electronic traffic law enforcement) system, which has been installed in seven other Jakarta toll roads.
However, Commissioner Sambodo said that law enforcement officers will mainly focus on "drivers who exceeded the speed limit" and "vehicle overcapacity."
According to Sambodo, speed limit violators are currently being given warnings instead of written citations, which will only last until the end of March.
The maximum speed limit applied on most toll roads in Indonesia is 120 km/hour. Vehicles that travel at speeds exceeding this limit will automatically be photographed by speed traps installed at certain sections of the toll road.
