Trade Surplus Helps JCI Gain 1.08%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed today's trade, February 15, with a gain. The index managed to appreciate following the announcement of Indonesia's trade balance surplus for January.
The JCI ended the day with a gain of 73.01 points or 1.08 percent to 6,807.5. The LQ45, and index of 45 leading stocks, climbed 12.68 points, or 1.32 percent, to 975.32.
"The JCI's positive catalyst today was the January trade surplus of US$930 million, which is bigger than the consensus prediction of US$200 million," Indo Premier Sekuritas' research team wrote.
The national statistics agency, BPS, recorded a surplus of US$900 million in January 2022. Export value stood at US$19.16 billion, while imports were recorded at US$18.23 billion.
This is the 21st consecutive month of Indonesia's trade surplus.
