TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened with a slight gain on today's trade, August 23, ahead of the government's announcement on Indonesia's mobility restriction policy—known locally as PPKM—to curb COvid-19, which would be announced this afternoon.

The index gained 0.67 percent to 6,070 shortly after 9:00 a.m. Jakarta time. The morning bell saw 249 stocks rose, 75 stocks fell, and 183 stagnated.

This morning, the market capitalization on the Indonesia Stock Exchange was recorded at Rp7,339.65 trillion.

Mirae Asset Sekuritas chief researcher Hariyanto Wijaya said investors will pay close attention to the government's decision on the implementation of PPKM, which will be announced later in the afternoon.

"We predict the JCI to be traded higher today," Hariyanto wrote in his daily research, Monday.
