TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's LRT will begin service in mid-2022. The Indonesian Railway Company or PT. KAI has proposed the prices for the light rail transit (LRT) ticket price to the Transportation Ministry. KAI is suggesting train fares between Rp12,000 and Rp15,000 for the first phase of service between Cibubur Station and Dukuh Atas Station.
"That is the [price range] that KAI is proposing. But the range is still being discussed by the Ministry of Transportation," Ferdian Suryo Adhi Pramono, the commitment maker (PPK) of the Jabodebek LRT project, told Tempo in Cibubur, Monday , October 18.
Ferdian said the tariff was calculated including the subsidies from the government. The ticket prices for the LRT Jabodebek will be subsidized as the project's is financed using a scheme that combines bank loans and state budget.
However, Ferdian said the LRT fares are still being discussed and will be adjusted as needed. "We are ensuring that SOEs do not lose money," he said.
The first phase of the Jabodebek LRT, which covers the Cawang-Cibubur, Cibubur-Dukuh Atas, and Cawang Bekasi routes, is targeted to operate in mid-2022. As of October 18, the first phase of infrastructure construction progress has reached 87.6 percent.
