TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government starting today, August 28, added the PeduliLindungi app as one of the travel requirements during the pandemic. The use of this app is required for passengers of all modes of transportation.
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi asked all of related directorate generals to prepare related regulations. So the transportation sector would be prepared to implement the new rule.
All the operators of transportation and its facilites managed by the ministry, SOE, or private sectors were asked to set the procedures of the implementation of the new regulation.
He asked for a proper dissemination so the public would be informed well about the use of PeduliLindungi app. This is to avoid public confusion.
Budi Karya further explained that the transportation is one of the important sectors in the mobility management during the Covid-19 pandemic. The supporting facilities of transportation such as terminal, stasiun, port, and airport are part of the screening processes to suppress the Covid-19 transmission.
"Therefore, through the implementation of PeduliLindungi app (as the travel requirement), we hope that the mobility can be managed well amid pandemic,” said the minister.
The app will help the officers at the transportation facilities in validating health certificates digitally. It will be safer, easier, and simpler.
Besides, this application will minimize the physical contact since the passengers will not need to bring paper documents of Covid-19 test result or vaccination card. It is also considered to be safe from falsification of swab test results.
The implementation of PeduliLindungi as a travel requirement has been previously started in July 2021 at several airports and train stations.
