TEMPO.CO, Surakarta - Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the son of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, was tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing a swab test at the Bung Karno Hospital (RSBK). "The results of my PCR test came out on Monday, July 12, 2021 morning, I am currently undergoing self-isolation," he said in Solo, Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Before being exposed, he said he often visited hospitals, isolation places, and Covid-19 vaccination locations. Before finally doing a swab test, he had done an antigen test but the results were negative. "I didn't believe it af first, then I asked for a PCR test and the results were positive," he said.

However, Gibran admitted that he was in good condition and did not feel any symptoms, so it was enough to undergo self-isolation.

"When I found out I was positive, I immediately separated myself (from others). Thank God that my children, my wife, my aide, and my driver were all negative results," he said.

Gibran also said that he coordinated with the Deputy Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa and Regional Secretary Ahyani to be more active in going to the Red Zone in Solo to ensure the handling of Covid-19 went well. "I also asked my aide to keep patroling the city of Solo, to distribute basic necessities to the people in need," explained Gibran.
