TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia president director Irfan Setiaputra responded to the latest ban imposed by the Hong Kong authorities on the flag carrier after one of its flights from Jakarta carries passengers that were tested positive for Covid-19.
Several passengers aboard the GA876 flights from Jakarta to Hong Kong were tested positive with local authorities adding that they were asymptomatic.
The Hong Kong Center for Health Protection (CHP) said passenger flights from Jakarta operated by Garuda Indonesia in Hong Kong are prohibited from landing from June 22 to July 5, China Daily reports.
The Garuda president defends that the carrier assures that a thorough passenger health check had been done prior to international flights and that passengers of this specific flight had provided airline officials with negative swab PCR test permits.
“The carrier is eventually affected. Even though the permits have been verified,” said the Garuda Indonesia boss to Tempo on June 23.
This ban affects Garuda Indonesia flights from Jakarta to Hong Kong which for the meantime could only carry cargo instead of passengers.
