Jakarta Covid-19 Daily Rise Slightly Drops to 3,221 Cases Today

22 June 2021 21:02 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Covid-19 daily numbers in Jakarta today, June 22, slightly dropped. The city’s Health Agency Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, said there are 3,221 new infections over the last 24 hours.

The figure was obtained from the results of PCR tests carried out on 14,462 people. “The number of active cases is 32,191 people who are still being treated or isolated,” said Dwi in a written statement.

The number of new cases declined from that of the previous day which reached 5,014.

Thus, Jakarta’s total caseload reached 482,264. Of which, 442,059 have recovered, bringing the recovery rate to 91.7 percent.

The remaining 8,014 people succumbed to the illness with a mortality rate of 1.7 percent. “While Indonesia’s death rate is 2.7 percent,” Dwi added.

During the past week, the Jakarta Health Agency recorded the positivity rate at 26.6 percent, while the national positivity rate was 11.3 percent.

The figure still exceeded the WHO standard of less than 5 percent. Dwi called on the public to remain disciplined in implementing the health protocols even though they already received Covid-19 vaccines.

Dwi asserted that vaccination only reduced the impact of Covid-19 exposure. “There are still possibilities of contracting and transmitting viruses if people are not disciplined in health protocols in daily activities,” she said.

Jakarta sees a dramatic spike in Covid-19 cases over the past two weeks. The bed occupancy rate for isolations across the city’s referral hospitals nearly reached 90 percent.
