KPK, BKN Give Different Statements on Nationalism Test: Komnas HAM

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) Commissioner Choirul Anam said the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Civil Service Agency (BKN) provided different information regarding the civic knowledge test or known as TWK.

Anam disclosed this issue after the commission questioned the KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron on Thursday, June 17, in the Komnas HAM building, Central Jakarta.

“We have questioned the BKN a few days ago, we got slightly different standing compared to one told by KPK to us,” said Anam on Thursday.

During the nearly five-hour questioning, Komnas HAM explored the reasons and legal basis for the implementation of the nationalism test as a requirement for the anti-graft body employees to become state apparatus (ASN).

Komnas HAM also questioned the reasons why the test was held through an interview session rather than a written test as usual.

However, Anam stopped short of detailing the discrepancy between the information conveyed by the KPK and BKN, yet emphasizing that they are important and substantial.

“There are substantial issues that have a major impact on why the result showed that 75 employees failed the test and about 1,200 employees passed it. There are also technical issues. So we cannot disclose it,” Anam said of the controversial TWK.
