TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - GeNose C19, a device made by Gadjah Mada University (UGM) that can detect the coronavirus in just 2 minutes, is now used on trains and buses. The devise is licensed by the national covid-19 task force, and passengers are required to be screened before they can get on board.
Bambang Brodjonegoro, Research and Technology Minister/ Research and Innovation Agency Head, said that the flexibility of GeNose C19 allows it to be used in airports, stations, terminals, hospitals, offices, and other public places such as tourist attractions and shopping center.
This device will be used for Covid-19 screening in health service facilities, government agencies, educational institutions, companies, and several other public facilities.
Genose 19, which the UGM research team started developing in March 2020, is proven to have a sensitivity rate of up to 90 percent and a specificity rate of 96 percent.
Using the GeNose C19 is also very easy, only requiring an individual to exhale very quickly for about 2 minutes. It does not require reagents and/other chemicals, and the result of the test is out fast.
One GeNose C19 unit is sold for around Rp62 million. GeNose is expected to be able to help medics work faster in detecting the coronavirus.
