TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Zulkieflimansyah on Wednesday confirmed that the Mandalika Circuit, currently under construction, will host a World Superbike (WSBK) race on November 8, 2021.
This will mean that the world-standard circuit, which construction is overseen by French firm Vinci Construction Grands Project, will host both FIM’s World Superbike and MotoGp racing series this November.
"The two motorcycle racing events; WSBK and MotoGP, will be held at Mandalika Circuit," said Zulkieflimansyah in the coordination meeting on the development of Mandalika tourism on January 20. "The preparation is on track."
Apart from the construction projects related directly to the motorcycling event, he said locals are also immensely enthusiastic towards it which can be seen in the private-built homestay projects. Meanwhile, the government plans to build 915 affordable homestays surrounding the Mandalika area.
A tourism official also explained that the government is completing supporting aspects for the Mandalika Circuit motorcycle races such as air and ocean transports to the venue, road accesses, healthcare infrastructure, and electricity.
