TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Wednesday announced that the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) will be implemented in the capital city of Jakarta along with other 23 regencies and cities across six provinces that are classified as Covid-19 red zones.
“The government will continue to monitor the implementation of the restriction of public mobility through intensive evaluation and monitoring,” said Airlangga Hartarto in Jakarta on January 6.
Jakarta will see the PSBB enacted on January 11 and will last until January 25. Other provinces subjected to the restriction include West Java, Banten, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java, after the government deemed the regions had fulfilled the parameters for the implementation of PSBB.
The parameters are death rate above the national average mortality rate of 3 percent, recovery rate below the national average of 82 percent, active cases rate of more than 14 percent, and hospital/ICU beds capacity exceeding 70 percent.
This effectively restricts workplace activities and the implementation of a 75 percent work from home (WFH) policy which greatly encourages people to remain at home to reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19 infections.
Restaurants and similar businesses will only be permitted to accommodate 25 percent of total capacity and encourage takeaways. Malls and shopping centers will only be allowed to operate until 7 pm.
Essential business sectors will be permitted to remain 100 percent operable under strict health protocols and adjusted operational hours during the PSBB.
