TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police Chief Insp. Gen. Mohammad Fadil Imran claimed the crime rate in Jakarta Greater Area or Jabodetabek throughout 2020 plummeted by seven percent compared to the previous year.
“The decline is recorded from 32,614 cases in 2019 to 30,324 cases in 2020. So that it drops by 2,290 cases or 7 percent,” said Fadil at his office, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.
Fadil added that the completion of the criminal case investigation increased by seven percent or 2,385 throughout the year; from 31,854 to 34,239 cases.
The drop in crime rate and the hike in case completion, he went on, were attributable to the decline in the risk index of people getting a criminal charge by seven percent.
Fadil further mentioned that the crime clock, or the annual ratio of crime to fixed time intervals, in Jabodetabek also dropped by one minute and 22 seconds. In 2019, one crime was committed every 16 minutes and 11 seconds, becoming every 17 minutes and 33 seconds.
“This means that in 2020, there is one crime every 17 minutes 33 seconds,” he added.
