TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Bank Mandiri has prepared cash worth Rp15.1 trillion to meet the public's needs for cash in December 2020, particularly during Christmas and New Year holidays.
Bank Mandiri corporate secretary Rudi As Aturridha said most of the cash was allocated for its customers who wanted to withdraw cash from ATMs. “The needs for cash remain for retail transactions that have yet to employ non-cash payments, such as when purchasing foods or beverages at kiosks,” he said in Jakarta, Friday, December 11, 2020.
The figure is an 8.2 percent drop compared to the previous year's due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which is estimated to reduce people’s purchasing power.
He added Bank Mandiri has anticipated the peak of customer transactions on December 16-31, 2020 by optimizing the limit of ATM cash loading during the period.
“We will increase the frequency of machine maintenance or preventive maintenance during the holiday period so that the ATMs will always be ready to cater to customers’ needs, with focus on rest areas, shopping centres, hotels, airports, stations, ports, gas stations, churches and holiday destinations,” he said.
According to plans, Bank Mandiri will carry out the preventive maintenance at 955 ATMs spread in various main locations. Bank Mandiri presently operates a total of 13,176 ATMs connected in the networks of ATM Link, ATM Bersama, ATM Prima and Visa/Plus nationwide.
