Migrant Worker Found Dead in Suitcase in Saudi Arabia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities Protection Directorate on Monday confirmed that 23-year-old ‘A’, who is an Indonesian migrant worker, had died in Saudi Arabia after the person’s body was found inside a suitcase.
The ministry has not announced the victim’s identity and the details of the case as it is still under investigation.
Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities Protection Director Judah Nugraha explained the finding of the migrant worker in the area of Mina in Mecca was confirmed by the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Jeddah.
They also received information that two possible suspects, who are also Indonesian nationals, had been apprehended by the Saudi Arabian police. They said the two people were believed to have been involved in placing the victim inside the suitcase.
The police's initial forensics investigation found no signs of physical struggle. The victim’s body will be transported back home upon the victim’s family's request.
