  • TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office arrested a former Transjakarta CEO Donny Andy Sarmedi Saragih on Friday evening, September 4. The head of the prosecutor’s office Riono Budisantoso said that Donny is serving his prison sentence at Salemba Penitentiary, Central Jakarta.

“Yes (Donny is arrested), we put him at Salemba Penitentiary yesterday,” he confirmed on Saturday, September 5.

According to Riono, his side received information regarding Donny’s whereabout. He was then nabbed at Mediterania Apartment in North Jakarta last night.

“There was no resistance,” Riono said.

Donny is a convict of a fraud case that emerged back in September 2017 when he was posted as an Operational Director of PT Eka Sari Lorena Transport. Porman Tambunan and himself were charged for committing a fraud toward Lorena Transport CEO, Gusti Terkelin Soerbakti.

The case re-emerged when Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan promoted him as Transjakarta President Director on January 23, 2020. Jakarta development body for city-owned companies (BP BUMD Jakarta) annulled Donny’s promotion on January 27, 2020.

Riono had previously iterated that Donny supposed to be taken to the prison once the Supreme Court ruling in 2019 was issued. But it was delayed due to an internal problem at the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.
