TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said Friday police investigators were still hunting down the perpetrators behind the recent cyberattacks against two online mass media, Tempo.co and Tirto.id.
The investigation began following police reports filed by Tempo.co chief editor Setri Yasra and Tirto.id chief editor Atmaji Sapto Anggoro, who were accompanied by the Legal Aid Institute for the Press (LBH Pers).
“The incident just took place on August 22, 2020, we are still hunting down [the perpetrators] and investigating it,” said Yusri Yunus at the Jakarta Police headquarters in South Jakarta on Friday without further elaborating the progress of the case.
Tempo’s Setri Yasra said police investigators should pay more attention to the cyberattacks against the two online mass media. He also believed that the attacks were motivated by several people’s disagreement with Tirto or Tempo’s news coverage and an attempt to silence the media.
