TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has officially ordered the extension of the transitional Covid-19 restriction in the city. The transitional restriction, known as PSBB (large-scale social restriction), enters its third phase on July 31 and will last until August 13.
One of the main deliberations why the transitional period has been extended is due to Jakarta’s COVID-19 positivity rate, the total percentage of patients, and those who have tested positive.
“Our positivity rate is still around 6.5 percent,” said Anies Baswedan in a Thursday’s virtual press conference.
According to Anies Baswedan, Jakarta’s positivity rate still exceeds the ideal number set by the World Health Organization (WHO) at 5 percent.
The governor also considered the city’s daily reproduction number (Rt) - following numerous interventions - which currently scores 1.
The administration has conducted massive PCR tests for the past week with a whopping 43,316 tests, which Anies claims four times larger than the WHO standard.
