Volunteers Wanted as COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial Starts

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Sinovac Biotech COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial research team from the Padjadjaran University (Unpad)'s faculty of medicine said it had obtained the permit from the university’s ethical committee. 

“The permit was issued this afternoon,” said Unpad COVID-19 vaccine field manager Eddi Fadlyana on Monday evening. The team will soon open the registration for volunteers and advise those interested to contact the people mentioned on the digital flyer that had been spread on social media. 

“Reach the team officials through the contact that is written [on the flyer],” said Eddi. 

The COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial volunteer registration process will be open until August 31, 2020. For further inquiries contact: 022–2034471 or WhatsApp 08112214235. 

The clinical trial team is looking for physically healthy volunteers aged between 18-59 years old, have a good history in abiding by current health protocols, and have no history of COVID-19 infection. In total, the team is expecting to involve 1,620 volunteers. 

Volunteers will also be required to be residents of Bandung who are not planning to move cross regions until the clinical trial ends. Volunteers carrying certain diseases will be exempted from registering, which is elaborated in detail on Padjadjaran University’s webpage.
