Bulog to Distribute Rp2 bn Social Aid on its 53rd Anniversary

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) is set to celebrate its 53rd anniversary on May 10, by distributing a total of Rp2 billion in social aid in the form of household staples and food to the underprivileged, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This charity activity can hopefully ease the burden of the people directly affected by this pandemic," said Bulog President Director Budi Waseso through a written statement in Jakarta, on Friday, May 8.
The social assistance initiative, named "53dekah, 53mbako dan 53hati", Budi continued, is set to employ the help of 53 food stalls (warteg) over the course of five days, in distributing free food to low-income citizens, such as online motorcycle drivers and public janitors.
On the other hand, social aid in the form of PPE, geared to aid doctors and medical personnel in the fight against COVID-19, has also been distributed to six coronavirus disease referral hospitals since May 6, 2020.
Lastly, social assistance in the form of household staples will be allocated to the people directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, including online motorcycle taxi drivers, workers who had previously been laid off, laborers, as well as the cleaning service, security guard and driver in the Bulog community.
