BPJS Kesehatan Premium Officially Drops Starting May 1

30 April 2020 11:15 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Health Social Security (BPJS Kesehatan) premium for the non-wage recipients (PBPU) and non-employee (BP) is officially dropped starting Friday, May 1. Thus, the premium will return to that of before the hike set on January 1, as mandated in the Presidential Regulation No. 82/2018.

The insurance company’s spokesman M Iqbal Anas Ma’ruf said the premium for Class I participants will be Rp80,000, class II at Rp51,000, and Class III at Rp25,000, following the Supreme Court’s ruling that revoked the premium hike set in Presidential Regulation No. 75/2019.

“Participants who have paid more for April will be compensated in the form of their premium payment in the next month,” said Iqbal on Thursday, April 30.

However, Iqbal clarified that from January until March 2020, the insurance fee would still follow the hike, and so there would be no compensation.

He ensured that his institutions had adjusted the information and technology system, hoping participants could receive new bills noting adjusted values starting May 1.

“With the return of the nominal premium for PBPU according to the Supreme Court’s verdict as of May 1, 2020, we hope this will help and not burden the community,” he said.

Iqbal further stressed that this premium adjustment of BPJS Kesehatan would only applies for PBPU and BP categories. For other participants, such as those whose premium is fully subsidized by the government (PBI) and earning employees (PPU), their amount of insurance premium is still as mandated in the Presidential Regulation No. 75/2019.
