Meulaboh, Aceh Hit by 5M Earthquake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measuring at 5 magnitudes on the Richter Scale jolted Meulaboh City, Aceh Province on early Wednesday, April 15.
The quake was centered in the sea, around 66 kilometers southwest West Aceh Regency. The tremor reportedly reached Banda Aceh.
As quoted from the official Twitter account of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the quake occurred at 2:36 a.m. local times, at a depth of 11 kilometers.
The graphic issued by the agency showed that the tremor reaching Banda Aceh was at the intensity level II of the MMI scale or weak. The data also noted there were no casualties from the natural incident.
