TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Over 3,000 people in Indonesia have tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease or Covid-19 so far.
The government spokesman for the COVID-19 mitigation, Achmad Yurianto, confirmed 337 new cases, bringing the national tally to 3,293.
“[We record] 337 new cases, so the total is 3293. And 30 more patients recover, bringing the total recoveries to 252,” said Yurianto on Thursday, April 9.
The death toll also rose to 280, after 40 more patients died from the disease, he added.
Yurianto calls on the people to comply with the government’s orders to stay home for self-isolation. People are also advised to reduce outdoor activities and social interaction and required to wear face masks when leaving homes.
He further reminded the public to wash their hands using soap and running water for 20 seconds as often as possible. “Especially before eating and touching our face because this is a transmission route that we don’t realize,” Yurianto underlined.
