TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has confirmed that two Indonesian nationals tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19. This becomes the first such case in the country.
According to the President, the two were infected from a Japanese national who contracted the virus during the latter’s visit to Indonesia.
“[They] are a mother and daughter. The mother, 64 years old, and her daughter, 31 years old, have been in the hospital,” said the President at State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, March 2.
He asserted that the government is all ready to deal with the coronavirus case. “The government is ready since the beginning. Our hospital, medical equipment, and SOP comply with the existing international standard,” Jokowi remarked.
“We have also prepared the budget and prioritize it,” he underlined.
