TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - South Tangerang residents, especially in Ciputat, currently enjoy a new tourist destination, the Jombang City Forest Park. The park is located on Jalan Pertanian, Ciputat, South Tangerang.
The chief of the South Tangerang City Public Works Agency, Aries Kurniawan, said the government had transformed a dry riverbed in the Jombang area into a tourist attraction.
"Because there are a lot of floods here, so we would have the dry riverbed cleaned up. We have arranged and normalized it so that the water from Jombang to Parigi returns to its normal flow," said Aries, on Sunday, February 9, 2020.
According to Aries, the Jombang City Forest Park has an area of approximately 5,800 square meters with a construction process of around five months. "There are various facilities in the park, namely a suspension bridge, gazebos, tree houses, jogging tracks, outdoor fitness equipment, a playground, prayer rooms, toilets and fountains," he said.
Aries went on to say that the Jombang City Forest Park had been developed to function as a green park and lungs for the Ciputat region, as well as a tourist destination.
"Currently, we are looking for land geared for social and public facilities that are unutilized and will be arranged later to accommodate water discharge and as a tourist and sports destinations. We have seven tourist destinations spread across seven districts," he stated.
The seven destinations are Jaletreng River Park, Jombang City Forest Park, Ciater Reservoir, Maruga Town Park, West Jurang Mangu Reservoir, Lengkong Wetan, and Pondok Jagung.
One resident, Sulaeman (39-years-old), said that with the development of the city forest park many people would also enjoy it both for recreation with family and sports activities.
"The park is good. Hopefully the community can also take care of this park and the Tangerang city government can increase the number of parks like this," said Sulaeman, who brought his two children and wife.
