TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The anti-graft watchdog, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), announced the arrest of WS, a General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner on Wednesday, January 8. The commissioner in question is believed to be Wahyu Setiawan.
The commissioner was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang as he boarded a Batik Air flight. This was confirmed by the Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Group, Danang Mandala Prihantoro.
“That is true, it was in flight number ID-6826 set for Tanjung Pandan from Soekarno Hatta,” said Danang on Wednesday, January 8.
Information obtained by Tempo suggests WS was arrested while he already boarded the commercial flight before he was asked to disembark the plane and was then taken to Soekarno - Hatta International Airport Police.
According to one of KPK’s sting operation (OTT) law enforcers, the arrest is believed to be connected with the KPU member’s involvement in the change of members in the House of Representatives (DPR).
KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron said the arrest was made on more than one individual, apart from the KPU commissioner.
