TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Under-16 soccer team coach Bima Sakti expected India to send its best team for the trial match on January 23 and 29, 2020.
"Hopefully India will come in full force so we can find out our shortcomings to be immediately addressed," said Bima in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 7.
Bima considered India has a strong team for its good quality players that are evident from their success in passing the qualification of 2020 (Asian Football Confederation) AFC U16.
India's U-16 football team made it to the 2020 AFC U16 finals as the winner of Group B, while Indonesia advanced to the match as one of the second bests.
Additionally, Bima expected to review the development of his team and sharpen players’ competition mentality from the match against India.
"We want to bring our players to feel again the atmosphere of a match because, for the last three months, they have not had an international match," Bima added.
The trial matches of the two countries’ young squad are slated to take place on January 23 and 29, 2020 at the Gelora Delta Stadium of Sidoarjo, East Java, starting at 7 p.m.
The match was part of the Indonesian team training camp (TC) which was held from January 16, 2020, at Gelora Delta Stadium. As many as 24 players joined the training camp as the preparation program to compete in the AFF U16 Cup and AFC U16 in 2020.
The AFF U16 2020 Championship will be held in Indonesia, while the AFC U16 Championship will be in Bahrain from September to October.
