TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian students in the United Kingdom’s University of Leeds revealed Reynhard Sinaga - Ph.D. student jailed for life for drugging and raping over 48 men - had rarely socialized with fellow Indonesian students who attend the same university.
“He’s not that close to his fellow Indonesian students here,” said an Indonesian citizen in Leeds to Tempo on Tuesday, January 7.
Other Indonesian students also said Reynhard does not join any group chats of Indonesian students.
Tempo's source said Reynhard’s parents once contacted a number of Indonesian students in Leeds in search of the 36-year old student’s whereabouts.
“His parents received news that their son has been arrested by police and continue to ask for help from fellow university students upon his whereabouts. However, we don’t know since he rarely socializes,” said Tempo’s source.
On Monday, Reynhard Sinaga was sentenced to life in prison for over a hundred rape counts from 2015 to 2017.
