Indonesian Ministry Denies Owning a Pornhub Account

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Ministry denied allegations saying that it has an official account in the pornography site, Pornhub, following a viral screenshot of the ministry’s alleged Pornhub account that spread in Twitter.
“The Communication and Informatics Ministry never created an account or any similar contents at the Pornhub website,” said the Kominfo spokesman Ferdinandus Setu in a written statement on Thursday, December 26.
Furthermore, Ferdinandus asserted that the pornography site had been long blocked by the Kominfo since 2017 for violations against Indonesian laws, one of them is the electronic information and transactions law (UU ITE).
Based on the screenshot, the account owner is located in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra.
The ministry's spokesman said that the ministry will actively take strategic steps to prevent negative content from spreading in Indonesia. “Up to November 2019, the Kominfo has blocked more than 1,500,000 websites and social media accounts that contain pornographic contents,” said Ferdinandus Setu.
